Just In Case You Needed
More Evidence Of What A Freaking Joke MSNBC Is,
Here You Go!

Timothy Carney for the Washington Examiner and was brought onto MSNBC today during host Tamron Hall's show to discuss the unraveling 'Let's Talk About Mitt Romney' High School Pranks From 50 Years Ago' story.

Watch how host Tamron Hall reacted to having her viewpoint challenged:

That's right. She cut Carney's mic, lectured him for over a minute, then dismissed him without giving him a chance to respond.

Why even have a guest on if  you don't want to talk about their opposing viewpoint?  What was the point of even having Carney as a guest if hearing something she disagreed with was so upsetting to Hall she needed to cut Carney's mic and give him a scolding he wasn't allowed to respond to?

Is this some new interview technique they are teaching in journalism schools these days?  Or is this the only way they can keep a failing narrative going now as it comes apart, shouting down guests and cutting their mics to try to keep it going a few more days?

Free Beacon has a transcript:

http://freebeacon.com/watch-tamron-hall-go-nuts/

HALL: So there you have it Tim. And the point is, he’s doing local television—that’s a local reporter asking something that is important to the people of that particular state. His response, you know, people are raising an eyebrow about.

CARNEY: Okay, well, I’ll talk about the marijuana in one second. But what you’re doing here is a typical media trick: You hype up a story, and then you justify the second-day coverage of the story by saying, “Oh, well, people are talking about it. Here’s how Romney responded to it—“
HALL: You don’t have to answer a single question I ask you. You do not. And you did not have to accept the invitation to come on. You knew what we were going to be discussing. [Unclear]
CARNEY: [Unclear]
HALL: Hang on, Tim. You’re kind of in my house here. The problem is this: The story’s out there, and you’re right—I am not saying that we should belabor what happened 50 years ago. We are talking about the response by the campaign and the governor, not just on this issue, but—
CARNEY: You are bringing up a meta story here, which is, “What is the Romney response to this other non-story?” I’m trying to go meta-meta on you, and say here’s some media treatment -
HALL: You don’t want me to go anything on you, because you are actually irritating me right now. I’m going to be honest with you—yes, you are, because you knew the questions and topics we were going to discuss. You knew them; you agreed. And we are not talking or demeaning—listen, 50 years ago, I was a much tougher kid probably than Mitt Romney was in high school. I’m not talking about the issue of whether he was bullying or not. He says he doesn’t remember; to be fair, I cannot say he does. What I am asking about is how the campaign has handled this situation, how he handled the Colorado reporter, how he handled same-sex marriage where he said he agrees with gay parents be able to adopt, but he does not agree with same-sex marriage? Just the handling of questions beyond the economy. If you’re not comfortable talking about that, I am a-okay, but you’re not going to come on and insult me, you’re not going to come on and insult the network when you knew what you were going to come on and talk about. Done. Now, let me talk to Jimmy, I’m done.
CARNEY: Are you going to cut me off?
HALL: Yes, I am.
UPDATE! Allahpundit @ Hot Air shows how Tamron Hall couldn't bear to have a guest on who was pointedly exposing their strategy in covering the Romney bullying non-story:

 http://hotair.com/archives/2012/05/11/video-msnbc-cuts-conservatives-mic-when-he-calls-out-media-coverage-of-romney-bully-story/

It’s Tim Carney of the Examiner, unable to resist pointing out on air how our very serious media parlays a moronic one-day distraction into a moronic two-day distraction. Day one: Feign outrage over a non-story about something Romney did 50 years ago that’s being pushed for political advantage. Day two: Cite the fact that people are now talking about the non-story as proof that it’s a story worth talking about.
Carney hits the first point at the beginning of the segment and then, at around 4:00, hits the second, and it’s all downhill from there. In fact, watch the second vid below to see how the segment ended. Hall didn’t simply dismiss him at the end of the first clip; they kept him around and put him back onscreen at the end of the interview with his audio cut as some sort of visual reprimand. This is what happens, I guess, when you note precisely how the media carries Obama’s water on the unofficial network of Hopenchange 2012.
Hey If I Were Obama,
I Wouldn't Want To Talk
About The Economy Either

Look! Over There! A $990 Shirt!

Instead, I would talk about stuff like........

1. My opponent putting a dog on top of his car decades ago
2. My opponent's wife buying her own expensive clothes with her own money
3. My opponent's weirdo religion
4. My opponent's wealth & where he keeps his money
5. My opponent's youthful pranks from almost 50 years ago
6. My opponent's stance on gay marriage

But that's just me.  I'm sure Obama would be a far more responsible President and would actually address the most pressing crisis facing the country & not keep trying to distract people from it.

Washington Post Caught Making
Sh!t Up Again

Remember when Gov. Rick Perry of Texas was looking like a viable candidate?

Oh God, please don't remind me...I'm almost over it....

Yeah, sorry about this Rick, but it's gotta be done.  Just as Perry was getting his campaign moving the Washington Post decided this would be a perfect time to dredge up some useless fact from decades in the past about a piece of land the Perry family leased to hunt on that had this big rock with a racial slur painted on it.

The MSM spent over a week flogging the story to death from coast to coast despite the fact that if you looked at the details you would notice:

1. The Perry family only leased a part of the land, they did not own it, it did not belong to them.
2. They did not paint the offensive slur on the rock.
3. The rock was painted over long ago.

But this apparently was the only way the MSM could tie 'Rick Perry' and the word 'N***r' together in the same sentence and hey, you have to work with what you get.  So we got days 'n days of outrageous OUTRAGE!!! over this LAND THAT THE PERRY FAMILY OWNED where they had PAINTED THIS TERRIBLE WORD n stuff!

Today the Washington Post thought it would be a great idea to look back into Mitt Romney's school days way back in 1965 at some pranks he did as a kid.

There are several real problems with that article, but thus far here's the main one that has developed over this particular passage about a prank where Romney cut another student's hair:

Stu White was interviewed today after WaPo put that article up about the cutting of Lauber's hair.  What did he say about it?

OOPS!

Retracto, the Amazing Retraction Alpaca at Big Journalism has contacted WaPo reporter Jason Horowitz to ask 'Hey Dude, WTF?!':

Waiting to see if a retraction/correction occurs. Stay tuned!

UPDATE!
When I checked the WaPo article again at 9:40 pm CST, it has now been changed to read this way:

Click for larger image showing the new text

Nowhere in the article does the Washington Post admit they have made a retraction/correction to the news story.

UPDATE II:  ....and the story just keeps falling apart:

Now one of Lauber's sisters says she had no knowledge whatsoever of any bullying incident:

Not only did she have no knowledge of this supposed life-defining moment for her brother, the entire family has released a statement in which they castigate WaPo for turning their brother into a political football, and state that the portrayal of him in Horowitz's article is 'factually inaccurate'.

UPDATE III:  After 2 days, WaPo finally admits they changed the story:

The following text now appears at the end of the article:
Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story reported that White “has long been bothered” by the Lauber incident. White later clarified in a subsequent interview that he has been disturbed by the incident since he learned of it several weeks ago from a former classmate, before being contacted by The Washington Post.
Yeah. Uh-huh. Sure. Horowitz can't get the facts straight from an interview he had with a living person. I'm sure this means the 2nd hand conversation with a dead man that forms the bulk of the articles thrust, that Lauber was scarred for life by this incident or something is beyond reproach.

Epic  Public Employee Union Fail
In Wisconsin

In an earlier post I talked about the millions of bucks & manpower unions had poured into Wisconsin in a national, concerted attempt to turn back Republican Governor Scott Walker's union reforms.

http://drawandstrike.blogspot.com/2012/04/unions-democrats-cant-stop-states-from.html

For the past couple of decades, unions have focused on coordinating nationally to defeat any one state's attempts to end closed union shops and to reform PEU collective bargaining. Any brave Governor or Legislature that tried to bring reform and accountability to the wasteful, corrupt system quickly found themselves isolated and overwhelmed, the battle often over before it was even joined.

"Why yes, I am in fact kicking ass & taking names.
Thanks for noticing."

A lot has changed in just the past few years.  As Scott Walker is demonstrating in Wisconsin, it's now possible to withstand this barrage of national money, manpower & media coverage and even defeat it.

Last night, after months of campaigning, spending millions & millions of their members dues money, sending in plenty of manpower, and getting lots of positive media coverage from their friends in the mainstream media, how did the union-backed candidate do in the Democratic primary?

Kathleen Falk ponders why Dem. Party & Unions weren't able to
convince most WI Dem. voters that Walker's reforms weren't working.

The answer is, she didn't just lose, she got CRUSHED.

Tom Barrett, the mayor of Milwaukee, didn't even RUN on opposing Walker's union reforms and he got 58% of the vote compared to Kathleen Falk's 34%.

Even more humiliating? Notice that Gov. Scott Walker got 626,538 votes, more than Barrett and Falk got COMBINED (390,109 + 228,940 = 619,049)

Scott Walker has won. The verdict on his reforms are in, and Wisconsin voters know what it is.  It'd be impossible for Barrett to shift gears now and run the next month again Walker's reforms.
After The Vote In North Carolina Yesterday On
Same Sex Marriage, Democrats Still Can't
Face The Truth

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/09/us/north-carolina-votes-on-same-sex-marriage-amendment.html?_r=1

If you can't keep SSM from being banned in deep blue North Carolina or California, the problem is not Republican homophobic rednecks.

It's that a large chunk of your own base doesn't support your policy on SSM.  Deal with it.

I'm tired of watching Liberals try to avoid the fact they can't get the Blacks, Hispanics & Catholics in their own base to vote the way they want them to on this issue by claiming it's eeeevil Republicans that are causing this to happen.

Democrats rule in North Carolina. That's why the DNC Convention is being held there this year.

http://pewresearch.org/pubs/773/fewer-voters-identify-as-republicans

In 2008, Democrats had a whopping 13 point lead over Republicans in the state:

With Democrats having that kind of advantage, passing anything they wanted should have been a snap. The problem isn't that Republicans in the state are outvoting the Democrats; it's that a sizable chunk of the Democrats own base don't share the Party's view on SSM.

Yet for the next couple of weeks expect the Democrats & their MSM media shills to continue avoiding dealing with this uncomfortable truth by instead pointing the finger at Republicans and wailing about Conservative homophobia.

Here's Mary Katherine Ham explaining the bitter truth to a Democrat last night as the primary results in NC came in:

UPDATE:
Tom Blumer at NewsBusters catches the Associated Press telling a howler:
Ron Paul Is Really Racking Up
Those Endorsements, Eh?

Vote for me or you hate the Constitution!
Whaddya mean you won't endorse me? Haven't you been listening to my
minions?! I'm the ONLY MAN who can save America!!!

Due to a recent, ugly protracted discussion with a Paulbot on Twitter, allow me to point something out to the people still trying to push The Evil Gnome on American Conservatives:

Not a single prominent Conservative is backing Ron Paul.

A list of Ron Paul's Non-Endorsers:

1. Rush Limbaugh
2. Sean Hannity
3. Michelle Malkin
4. Mark Levin
5. Glenn Beck
6. Sarah Palin
7. Ann Coulter
8. Newt Gingrich
9. Rick Santorum
10. Rick Perry
11. Grover Norquist
12. Tammy Bruce
13. Jonah Goldberg
14. George Will
15. Charles Krauthammer

Wait, wait, I'm going about this wrong, aren't I?  How about I make a list of prominent Conservatives that HAVE endorsed Ron Paul?  Sound like  a better idea?  OK, here we go!

........And that's all, folks!

There's a reason Ron Paul isn't getting any endorsements from Conservative leaders.  That's because Ron Paul isn't a Conservative.  He is a Libertarian and an extreme one.  He is an anti-Semitic clown that can't shuffle off the national stage fast enough.  Perhaps he can join Pat Buchanan on MSNBC.  I really don't care.

What's important is after this election at long last the utter stupidity of this guy's personality  cult swarming the internet trying to fool Conservatives into backing this quack will at long last be over.

What They're Not Telling You
About The "Official" Unemployment Rate

First of all, there's two unemployment rates: The BS 'Official Unemployment Rate' and the REAL Unemployment Rate.

What's the difference between the two?

This: If you can't find a job and simply give up looking, they no longer count you in the official unemployment rate.  You are dropped from the statistics like you don't even exist.  This is why the 'official' unemployment rate is a totally bogus number.
=
You may have noticed the media crowing the last week because the official unemployment rate has dropped from 8.6 % of the American population back in February to 8.1% on May 4th.

Here's what they didn't tell you:  the reason the official unemployment rate is dropping is because millions more Americans dropped out of the private sector labor force.  When the labor force shrinks, so does the percentage of the people who are officially unemployed.

Try to wrap your mind around that for a second.  Despite 30 years population growth, we now have the same size labor force that we did in 1982.  So many people have simply given up and are not being counted any more after dropping out of the labor force that the official unemployment rate has dropped .5% from 8.6 to 8.1.

And the White House and their propaganda bitches in the MSM have spent the past week trying to sell this to America as GOOD NEWS.

Did you hear the GOOD NEWS?! The unemployment rate is dropping!  Obama's policies are working! The recovery continues!

You know what's doubly infuriating? If enough Americans give up in despair and the official unemployment rate drops below 8%, Obama and the Democrats are just shameless enough to campaign on that.

Let's hope most voters aren't gullible enough to fall for this.
